The Cat Corner has policies for approving adoptions. They are designed to ensure that each cat is placed with a responsible person prepared to make a lifelong commitment, and to avoid the kinds of problems that may have caused the animal to be brought to the shelter in the first place. An important part of the process is to match the life-style and needs of the adopter with the individual cat or cats being adopted. |

An important part of the process is to match the life-style and needs of the adopter with the individual animal being adopted.
In order to insure that your selected animal is the right match, we request everyone who lives in the household to come and interact with your choice(s) before you will be approved to adopt. |
Filling out the Adoption Application:
Once you have fallen in love with your purrfect match, you will need to complete an adoption application. We have the online adoption application or you may fill out a paper application in person at The Cat Corner location.

Our adoption fee helps to offset the services that we have provided for your newest addition. Your adoption fee also acts as a donation to help support our organization as a whole, allowing us to continue our efforts to rescue and re-home more animals in need of our help.
Please see the list below of all the minimum services that each of our animals have received:

***We very RARELY take on dogs!*** *The dog adoption fees vary a lot based on their weight -- which is how the neuter clinics charge us for their procedures. Virginia implemented mandatory spay and neuter laws to address the overpopulation of homeless animals. State law requires that all cats & dogs adopted from shelters to be spayed or neutered. It is the practice of The Cat Corner that any cat or kitten be spayed or neutered before our cats and kittens are sent home with their adopters.
Kittens that are 8 weeks and older: Can be “pre-adopted” and can go home after they are spayed /neutered and up-to-date on needed shots (12 weeks old). |
