Adopt a Barn Cat

If you have a garage, barn, shed, stable or even an enclosed porch in a relatively safe area, please consider adopting a barn cat!
You may be a homeless cat's last chance.
These are cats that were rescued from dangerous situations and are in need of a safe place to live. These are cats that cannot be placed in indoor homes for one reason or another, but would be more than happy to help you out in your barn, shed or stable! Without barn adopters, they have nowhere else to go. Having a barn cat or cats will help keep down the rodent population. The cats will be helping you, while you provide them a safe place to live. And, because these cats are already spayed or neutered, you won't have to worry about endless litters of kittens appearing!
What we provide
All cats available for adoption to barns are spayed or neutered and vaccinated. When you adopt a barn cat, we will go over with you how to acclimate your new cat.

You name the adoption donation fee for barn cats! All donations go to help us cover some of their medical costs. Since many of these cats thrive in the company of other cats, we ask you to consider adopting more than one barn cat at one time.
Caretakers of barn cats will agree to provide:
  • Shelter in a barn, outbuilding, or stable
  • Daily food and water—cats cannot live on mousing alone
  • Long-term veterinary care, as needed (they're neutered and vaccinated now)
  • A secure place to keep them for the first 2-3 weeks, while they acclimate to your barn. This can be a tack room or any secure indoor enclosure that they cannot escape from. We can lend you an introduction cage if no secure area is available.

Barn Cat Adoption Application

This form is most successful when completed from a desktop or laptop computer.  Form submission may fail if you complete from a mobile device.
  • We reserve the right to refuse any adoption to any person for any reason.
  • This online adoption application is for your convenience only, and does not guarantee that the animal of your choice will be available for adoption. You must still come to The Cat Corner where you will be interviewed by our volunteers for approval to adopt.
  • You must be 25 years old in order to adopt one of our animals.
  • The adoption form must be filled out in its entirety. We receive many online adoption application forms and appreciate you taking the time to fill them out . But we cannot process your adoption application if all of the required information is not provided to us.  We do not respond to those who submit incomplete application forms, so please supply all of the information that is requested. If you find a question that does not apply to you, please write N/A.
  • Barn Cat adopters must live within reasonable driving distance from The Cat Corner -- no more than 3 hours.
    Adopter Information:

Most cats are hardcore feral (wild) but some are somewhat friendly or getting that way. Friendly cats will want to be with you, will follow you around and likely try to come into your home. Feral cats are strong mousers that will keep to themselves and take care of business.

    Cat Housing

    Stability in Environment & Care:
Before being approved for adoption we must have proof of home ownership. Because it is very hard to relocate or find placement in general for barn cats and feral cats, we require our Barn Cat adopters to own their home/ property where the cats will be located. It is extremely hard to relocate them, so we are hoping for a committed, lifelong home for them. The proof of home/ property ownership information can be submitted now, by email later, or in person when meeting us. Below you may upload the needed documents now to help speed up the adoption process.

    Relocating Barn Cats
Barn cats need to be rehomed properly to ensure they stay put. You will be asked to follow our guidelines to ensure successful rehoming for these barn cats.
If not, one can be provided for you during the rehoming process.
