Dogs for Adoption:

Please keep in mind that we very RARELY take on dogs. Our focus is on rescuing cats and kittens but we are animal lovers, so we will take on dogs when we have the space to help and when the pup is in great need of our help.
Thank you for considering adoption and choosing to save a dog’s life!

Adding a dog to your family is a rewarding and life-changing experience. Dogs enrich our lives and have the amazing ability to give and receive love unconditionally. They can be your loyal companion and friend, and a watchful playmate for your kids, but they are also a serious, long-term commitment. They will depend on you for their health and well-being, and require an investment of love, time, and money for the rest of their life.

As you search for your new dog, please remember that there is no shortage of dogs who need saving. There are far more dogs waiting to be adopted than people who are willing to adopt them, so if the dog in the picture who you’ve imagined bringing home isn’t available, there are thousands more amazing, loving dogs just hoping for the chance to be your dog. We ask that you keep an open mind, stay flexible, and we will do our best to work with you to find a great match for your family.

We strongly encourage anyone thinking about adopting a dog to do your research and make sure you are prepared for the commitment. If you have thought about what’s required and are ready to adopt, here’s what you can expect when you apply to adopt a dog from The Cat Corner, Inc.:
Dog adoption fees vary a lot. This is because they are based on weights ---which is how the Clinics charge us for procedures.
Estimate Adoption Fees:
  • Puppies (under 8 months) $300
  • Puppies & Dogs (8 months to 9 years) $150-$250
  • Senior Dog (10+ years) $50-$150
  • Senior-to-Senior (adopter 62+ years adopting a 8+ years cat or dog) $0.00!
The Cat Corner has policies for approving adoptions. They are designed to ensure that each animal is placed with a responsible person prepared to make a lifelong commitment, and to avoid the kinds of problems that may have caused the animal to be brought to the shelter in the first place. An important part of the process is to match the life-style and needs of the adopter with the individual animal being adopted. To view our adoption process, what is needed for each adoption, and to fill out an adoption application, please go to our Adoption Process page: www.thecatcornerinc.com/adoption-process

SAVE A LIFE ADOPT
Below is a list of dogs currently in our care. Please click on the dog that you are interested in, to read a more detailed description. We update the description as we learn more about them. We take in dogs in rare instances, when in most need and when we have the space available to save them. Sometimes we take them in with little to no history or background. While in a foster home, we try to better understand them to help place them in an appropriate home environment.

TIMING
The approval process can take a week or two depending on your availability and our fosters’ schedules, as well as how long it takes for you to complete all the needed steps. The Cat Corner is run by a team of volunteers from our community who love cats & dogs. We are just regular people with jobs, kids, and lives whose time is as limited as yours. That means that during periods of high activity or seasonal vacations the process may take a little longer.

THE PET YOU APPLY FOR IS NOT GUARANTEED
If the screening process occasionally seems overly strict, try to remember that the shelter's first priority is to protect the animal's best interests. Some of the animals that are in our care have already had such a rough start at life, our hopes is to find them that perfect forever home where they will never end up on the streets or in a shelter again. An important part of the process is to match the life-style and needs of the adopter with the individual cat or cats being adopted.

Please also keep in mind that there may already be other adoption applications placed on the particular cat or dog you are interested in. We do not move our animals into a "pending" status until 1) we have already received an adoption application, 2) they have completed a successful meet & greet, and 3) we have received all necessary documents for the adoption. Adoptions fall through often and for varies reasons, because of this we want to be sure that a "pending" status does not deter another potential home, in the event the other one falls through.

MEETING THE DOG
Please keep in mind that all of our dogs are kept in foster homes and are not located at The Cat Corner shelter. In order to schedule a meet & greet with any of our animals in foster care, an online adoption application must be filled in prior. The online adoption application is found on our Adoption Process page of our website. Please be sure to fill out the adoption application labeled "Dog" if you are wanting to adoption one of our dogs. This is a separate application from our cat adoption application.
 FOSTER-TO-ADOPT
Commit for 3 weeks: It takes at least 2 or more weeks for a dog to learn and settle in a home to see their true personality. This is why before approving any dog adoption, we require a 3 week Foster-to-Adopt contract prior to us doing a final Adoption Contract. This should give the family enough time to make sure it is a good match. After the 3 week "trial" foster-to-adopt time, you will be scheduled by one of our Adoption Team Volunteers to come in to confirm if you want to adopt and complete our "Adoption Contract", or the dog will be up for adoption and need to instead, stay in our care.

SUPPLIES
Foster-to-adopt homes need to buy their own crate, bed, toys, food, and bowls. We supply collar, leash, small amount of transition food, and supplements if needed (most we have to purchase). All vet care needs must be pre-approved and see one of our authorized vets working with The Cat Corner. We rescue many neglect and medical needy animals, so we always need donation funds to pay for their very high vet bills.

ADOPTION & RETURNING
The animals have been abandoned at least once already so you need to make the life-long commitment to the dog. However, should the animal not work out, we will always take them back for life or help with new placement through The Cat Corner, Inc. It is in our Adoption Contract that they MUST be returned to us in that event. We will refund your adoption fee if within our 14 days after adoption contract date. Outside that time, we would have already spent the money on the other animals in our care, as we depend heavily on our adoption fees to continue our lifesaving work.

**We highly recommend you and your new dog attending Dog Training classes.**

Adopt.  Foster.  Donate.  Volunteer.
Making a difference, one cat at a time.
