Here is a list of our fostering options:​
  • Mothers with nursing young.
  • Kittens too young and/or immature to be adopted.
  • Kittens and young cats that require more socialization than available at the shelter.
  • Older or senior cats that will be more comfortable in a home environment.
  • Injured cats and/or those recovering from surgery.
  • Neglected or abused cats that need tender loving care.
  • Cats suffering from "shelter stress" in need of a calming home environment.
  • Cats with colds or with special medical needs.

    Foster Care Volunteer Application:

    The Cat Corner can cover necessary medical expenses provided by our veterinarians only. If you choose to use your own veterinarian, we cannot be responsible for the expenses. If your foster cat needs to see a veterinarian, please contact us directly right away.

    Foster Care Responsibilities


    The Cat Corner Provides:
    • Medical care (vaccinations, de-worming, flea preventative). **Foster parents should notify Cat Corner volunteers with any health concerns right away.** 
    • Food/formula 
    • Food & water bowls 
    • Toys 
    • Bed
    • litter box & litter
    • Carriers 

    Foster Parent Responsibilities:
    • Provide a safe, loving, temporary home. 
    • Provide a safe indoor environment, separate from current pets. 
    • Other supplies purchased are seen as a financial contribution to The Cat Corner, unless approved otherwise from one of the Cat Corner approved officers.
    • Provide, socialization, training, exercise, and administer medication for foster animals. 
    • Provide socialization and basic house training for foster animals. 
    • Periodically transport foster animals to the shelter for vaccinations, checkups, or other special care.
    • Provide emergency accident or illness veterinary care. Foster parents must contact The Cat Corner if an emergency arises. 
    • Understanding that animals are the sole property of The Cat Corner, Inc. Foster parents do not have any authority regarding who eventually adopts their foster pet(s). You can not promise animals to anyone (friends, family, neighbors, etc.) 
    • Foster parents will return animals to the shelter on pre-specified date or at any time The Cat Corner requests them. 
    • If animal(s) must be returned before their scheduled date & time, the Foster Care Volunteer will give at least 48 hours notice to make other arrangements for the animal(s). 
    • Report lost animals immediately to The Cat Corner.
    • Provide insight to the foster animal’s behavior for its file in order to disseminate accurate information to potential adopters. 
    • If foster parents want to adopt their foster pets, they must adhere to all of The Cat Corner's adoption policies and procedures and apply through the regular adoption process. 
    • The Cat Corner is not responsible for any damage or injury caused by a foster animal while it is in the care of a Foster Care Volunteer.
