What will Kitten Cuddlers be doing?
  • Kitten Cuddlers are given the opportunity to play and interact with our kittens waiting for their forever homes. This interaction also helps give the kittens more socialization and helps them in preparation for adoption.
  • We have bins full of interactive toys for you to use, as well as brushes and other supplies. Kitten Cuddlers are welcome to bring in unopened kitten food (dry or canned) or unopened cat treats for the kitties.
  • No "walk-ins" will be accepted.
  • All Kitten Cuddlers must come with a responsible adult until they are 18 years old. These guidelines are based on insurance and liability issues, and are not a reflection on your child's experience or competency with animals.
What is the time commitment?
  • Sessions are available on Monday, Wednesday and Saturday at 11am and are for 1 hour.
  • Sessions will need to be scheduled in advance. No "walk-ins" will be accepted.
Do I need to Accompany my CHILD?
  • YES. Children under the age of 18 must always be accompanied and supervised by a parent, legal guardian, or an authorized "responsible adult".
  • Adults are also allowed to participate without children. This could also be a good option for adults that have physical limitations that would prevent them from regular volunteer caregiving at the shelter.
When can my CHILD begin doing Kitten Cuddling?

  • After we receive your email request to participate, our Volunteer Coordinator will be contacted shortly after to give you more information about the program and schedule you for your Kitten Cuddler session. No walk-ins are accepted!

Other ways that kids can help

Do you want to help but are not old enough to be a volunteer?
Here are some things that you can do to help the animals. Have any additional questions? You can email our Volunteer Coordinator at [email protected]
  • Fundraising
  • Ask your family and friends to bring an item from our Wish List to family events such as birthday parties, holiday gatherings, summer picnics, etc. Drop the items off at the shelter for the animals!
  • Posting flyers around your school/community to raise awareness.
  • Have a Pet Supplies Drive in your school or neighborhood. Collect supplies (kitten and adult wet and dry food, clumping litter, puppy pads, bleach, dish soap, hand soap, hand sanitizer, paper grocery bags, laundry detergent --see the Wish List on our website) for the shelter.
  • Recycle: Collect aluminum cans, sell them to the local recycling center and donate the funds received.
  • Sponsoring a Cat Corner cat through our Sponsorship Program for $10/month
  • You can support the shelter by organizing a mini fundraiser! A bake sale, yard sale, car wash or lemonade stand can be fun and raise money and awareness too!
  • Ask your parents if your family would like to become a foster family for kittens.
  • Educate family/friends about spaying/neutering/responsible pet ownership
  • Distributing information about the shelter at a local pet store/supermarket
  • Conduct a “wish list” drive to gather items that we need.
  • Collect donations for the shelter instead of receiving birthday gifts.
  • Make and donate a Do-It-Yourself cat projects.
