TNR Adventures: What a week!!

12/16/2018

Comments

This week was extremely busy and successful!  We ended up working at three different sites.  First off, we were able to trap momma kitty from the Yorktown project last week.  She is actually friendly and is being adopted by her caretaker!

We also started working at a new project in Hampton.  We trapped a male kitty we named, Acer.  He has been neutered and is very happy to be back home!  We will be returning there to help the other community cats in the area soon.

The bulk of our week was helping out at an apartment complex in Newport News.  Earlier this summer we had several cats fixed there, but we had a few trap smart kitties who we weren't able to trap yet.  Well, those kitties made beautiful babies.  So a neighbor called us in for assistance when she noticed multiple kittens.

Foster Update: Weeble

Meet Weeble the wobbly kitty cat after a year in foster care!

This kitty is one of a kind and full of personality and we have been fostering him for this past year. Weeble is a special kitty because he has Cerebellar Hypoplasia and due to his CH, Weeble does have a few special needs. CH is non-progressive, meaning it does not get worse with age and occurs when the cerebellum, the part of the brain which controls fine motor skills and coordination, is not completely mature at birth. He appears to be drunk most of the time and is a very clumsy kitty but has learned was to live with his limits. He can climb up and down onto furniture, use the litter box on his own, and get where he needs to go! He uses his claws more than an average cat as that the way he normally maintains his balance & grip.

TNR Adventures: The Yorktown Project

Comments

Recently, several Cat Corner volunteers have teamed up to help our community cats live a healthier and longer life through TNR efforts.  I am so excited to share our experiences and success stories with you all, and will post regularly to keep you updated on the work we are doing!

This is Stacy's story:

It all starts with one unspayed female.  Mamma cat started showing up about a year ago, skinny, scared, and alone.  A neighbor found the cat and started feeding her outside.  Before long mamma kitty had one litter...and then another litter.  Before they knew it there were 12 cats on the property, IN ONE YEAR.

So many mouths to feed.. and they keep multiplying!
