Mikey & Michael's Story

Mikey & Michael (or M&M) are two beautiful, almost 2yr old brothers. We gave them a second chance to find a forever home and hope that someone will see they love they have left to give!

​Mikey & Michael are very sweet, affectionate boys. They love to lie on your lap and soak up all of the love that you are willing to give them. They even enjoy a good brushing. These two boys are brothers and you can see the love that they have for one another.  They have been together since birth and somehow found themselves at a local kill facility, sick with upper respiratory infection and depression. They were beside each other in secluded, cold, stainless steel cages. They could sense each others presence but could not see or comfort each other. Their future was grim. The Cat Corner was made aware of their situation and that they would likely be euthanized due to them not faring well in the shelter environment. They were so depressed they were hardly eating... 

You won't change the world by saving an animal...
...but you will change that animal's world.

​​We pulled these two boys and placed them in foster care.

There was one other hurdle--they tested positive for Feline Immunodeficiency Virus (FIV).

What is FIV? FIV is a feline only, slow-acting virus. It is so slow to progress that most FIV+ cats die of old age instead of complications from the disease. What is FIV not? Well, it’s not a death sentence, as old school veterinarians used to think. A cat with FIV can live a very full, healthy life with this disease. There are still shelters that will euthanize cats immediately once they test positive for FIV, which is very sad. Yes, there are some cats with very weak immune systems that will not fare well with this disease, but that is not usually the case. It is also relatively hard for a cat to transmit FIV to another cat; usually cats are born with FIV.
