ATTENTION:
Due to the overwhelming amount of inquiries to surrender cats and kittens to The Cat Corner, our Wait List is now closed. Please do not fill out the Wait List form, as we are no longer accepting any cats.

Please visit our Other Organizations page to find another rescue or organization that may be able to help.

The Cat Corner operates as a no-kill organization. Therefore, we accept cats by appointment only. In order to be placed on our waiting list, please complete our wait list form below:
    Please Note:
Completion of the form does not guarantee that The Cat Corner will be able to take your pet. When a space becomes available for an accepted pet, you will be contacted to schedule an "Intake Appointment". You will be asked to have your veterinarian fax your pet's medical records to our veterinarian office, Armistead Avenue Veterinary Hospital, prior to the Intake Appointment. Armistead Avenue Veterinary Hospital fax number: (757) 728-2597

    • Please note that even though we do not charge any fees for relinquishing your pets to us, donations are greatly needed and most appreciated. The Cat Corner is a non-profit, no-kill shelter that receives no government funding and relies solely on donations.

    • Pets are accepted on a space available basis only (as determined by our volunteers). There is no guarantee your pet will be chosen.

    • Cats older than 3 months of age will be tested for feline leukemia/aids, and cats under 3 months of age will be tested feline leukemia. We cannot accept feline leukemia/aids positive cats.

    • We are not the only animal welfare agency in the area. In addition to being added to our waiting list, please check other agencies (visit our Other Organizations page) to maximize chances of re-homing your pet.

    • If you or your spouse is a member of our military, please visit our Military Pet Foster Program page for special programs available to you and your pets.
